Pretty In Pink

For those of you who don't know, I'm lucky enough to be a Mummy to two wonderful little girls, aged (almost) 5 & 3. As my eldest daughter is currently on school holidays, I've been seeing and hearing lots about pink....she LOVES pink. She chooses pink for clothing, shoes, pencils & even the colour of the spoon or fork she eats with! My little one isn't as bothered, but she does let me know when something is "pretty". So with all this pink in my life I thought I'd write a post on pink.

Pink is such a tricky colour and so often it can feel as though you have fallen into a large vat of fairy floss! I think the only way to implement pink well is to either immerse yourself completely in it, layering and layering, being bold and fearless, or alternatively use it sparingly in accents alone. I don't think there is a 'middle of the road' way to go with pink!

Needless to say, you would probably find your husband reluctant to rest his head in this particular bedroom, but for a teenage girl I think this room would be perfect (albeit sans glass of champagne!)

Pink accents to the grey & white bathroom add a softness to the space.

The above cushions are by Caitlin Wilson Textiles (also available in fabric by the yard) and I think they are just so pretty. The top fabrics in the aqua and pink would be so lovely in a little girls room and the navy & pink cushions feel far less juvenile and I don't think you could go wrong using them in any master bedroom or living room.

The above new colourway fabrics are available through No Chintz. The stripe in the middle is 'Awning Stripe in Musk' and the one to the left looks to be the Peony design (which I love!).

How sweet is the room above? The pretty pink accents with the white backdrop are just perfect!

Of course pink decor is unlikely to lend itself to a masculine feel in an interior, but for any girly-girls out there it's definitely a go to colour!

  1. What is it with girls and pink?? Isn´t it funny how there´s only one color for them.
On the other hand (I have 3 boys), there are all the colors except pink!
